“My lower back has been bad for 4 years now and the doctors pushed me to do surgery. I can’t believe I didn’t know about cryotherapy before. I can now bend over to tie my shoes.”*This is a client’s testimonial based on his experience. We do not guarantee certain results as results can vary for different persons.
What is cryotherapy?
- Far from being just a health fad, cryotherapy has actually been in use for more than three decades across Europe and Japan. By exposing the body to extremely cold temperatures for just three minutes, the therapy treats a variety of health issues, from pain, soreness and injuries to insomnia, fatigue, inflammation and cellulite.
- In the U.S., professional athletes have started using cryotherapy to aid joint pain and muscle recovery, helping the technique gain mainstream attention. Now, those looking to try this effective therapy for themselves can try cryotherapy at Alpha Cryo in Arlington, Virginia.
How does cryotherapy work?
- Clients step into our specialized cryotherapy chamber, which uses nitrogen to rapidly lower their skin’s surface temperature. The cryotherapy chamber temperature averages around -120 Celsius (-184ºF), for the two to three minutes of treatment.
- The brain reacts to the skin’s temperature sensors by pooling the body’s blood in the core, where it is super-oxygenated and enriched with nutrients. Once the client steps out of the cryo chamber, the oxygen and nutrient enriched blood flows throughout the body, targeting those areas the brain has identified as injured or weak.
